Join us for a free and virtual lecture with Kenneth Hoffman, executive director of the newly opened Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience, as he relates this important aspect of history in New Orleans and the South.
Whether you're Jewish or not, Southern or not, everyone has had a Southern Jewish experience. The Hermann-Grima House has its own ties to Jewish history: The original owner of the house, Samuel Hermann, was a German-born Jewish immigrant who settled on the German Coast of Louisiana before moving to New Orleans in the early 19th-century. Although Mr. Hermann was familiar with other Jews in New Orleans, his wife and family practiced the Catholic faith, and we know little about his personal beliefs.
