Join us as we explore Creole mourning rituals, especially Catholic traditions, as an integral part of 19th century New Orleans. In a sincere effort to remember the departed, mourning in a Creole household was pervasive. From a coffin in the parlor to playthings in the nursery, the Hermann-Grima Historic House is decorated to explain the many customs and ceremonies surrounding death, and guests will experience this on daily guided tours for the month of October.
Hermann-Grima House tours are offered Thursday-Tuesday, hourly from 10am-3pm.
