Sip, shop, and see the new exhibit at Gallier House "Entrepreneurial Pursuits of Women in New Orleans, Then and Now."
The exhibit officially opens March 15th in the Gallier House exhibition space, and it examines the reasons female entrepreneurs from the 18th century to the present were able to thrive in Louisiana, and more specifically New Orleans. It will highlight specific women who broke barriers – whether racial, economic, political, or social—and how they inspired and continue to inspire future generations of women to follow in their footsteps.
While viewing the exhibit, guests will enjoy refreshments and get to mingle with female vendors from The Exchange Shop, which is the HGGHH museum shop and has historic ties to supporting local women. The Exchange Shop follows the long tradition of Woman’s Exchanges across the country and represents a number of Louisiana women and non-binary artists and vendors. The Exchange Shop offers locally designed and produced artisanal goods including home decor, soaps, textiles, toys, books, culinary specialties, and logo merchandise. The Woman’s Exchange of New Orleans, established in 1881, remains one of the oldest women’s nonprofits in the South.
